I’ve always had a hard time sticking to things which is why carb-cycling was such an appealing idea for me. I can do low carb 2 days, high carb one day, low carb 3 days, and high carb 1 day, and still see results? Sign me up. I can plan my week around what events I have going on, I don’t have to feel guilty having some carbs? I don’t have to feel like I’ve given up just because I want those sweet treats? That was a huge green flag for me.
As long as I can remember I have had a bad relationship with food. I was always overweight, trying new diets, and not fitting in as a kid really hurt. When I was a teenager I was super restrictive of what I ate and had some really unhealthy food habits. Changing my diet to a carb-cycling diet has really helped me repair the relationship I have with food. It allows me to indulge in a healthy way and keep my cravings in check. It hasn’t been that long, but I feel quite a bit differently about this change than other ones. I’m more optimistic and this is way more realistic and it’s flexible enough for me to enjoy a balanced life style. This isn’t for everyone, but it so far has helped me regain my life and I’m not obsessing over food or my next meal. It’s a breath of fresh air and I’m glad I have people to share my journey with.
